Enlargements and rebuilding

Churches were often made bigger or more modern but were rarely pulled down and rebuilt.

These examples show work before and after an enlargement of St Laurence Bidford-on-Avon (Warwickshire) carried out from 1831-1835. What was built to enlarge the church? Can you find another drawing in the file which shows this new feature?

The plans and drawings for St Michael Burrowbridge (Somerset) for a similar period show a church which was rebuilt. How might the new church have been different from the old one, seen at the top of the hill?
